The Gorge Trail of the Black Forest
The Schluchtensteig (Gorge Trail) is a long-distance hiking trail in the southern Black Forest in Germany. It takes hikers through some of the most dramatic and scenic landscapes in the region, focusing on deep river gorges, waterfalls, and ancient forests.
The route typically starts and ends in Bad Wildbad, weaving through the Murg Valley and the Kinzig Valley. You will pass famous gorges like the Schwarzwälder Klettersteig area and the Wildbader Klammer.
Unlike the high alpine passes of other trails, the Schluchtensteig offers a more intimate connection with the forest ecosystem. It is perfect for those who love water, moss-covered rocks, and the sound of rushing rivers.
